Enter to win!
Just fill in your name,
chances are low
that you’ll ever win this game.
But enter again,
as many times as you please
what have you got to lose?
You’re already on your knees.
Enter to win!
Just fill in your name,
chances are low
that you’ll ever win this game.
But enter again,
as many times as you please
what have you got to lose?
You’re already on your knees.
My breath billows away
like a smoker’s residue
caught in the wind
turning the world gray.
I should be chilled,
since my cheeks are red,
but in your presence
it’s with warmth I’m filled.
A smile crosses your face
as I cuddle up next to you
and my gentle purr starts to stir
with your favorite thing to do.
I stay a while and make you think
that I love this closeness too
but really I was just cold
and you were the nearest fool.
This is a robbery
give me all your heart
I’ll keep it safely guarded
if you trust me from the start.
No one will get hurt,
at least that is the plan,
since I’ll trust you with my own,
love me back if you can.
Stay as you are
in that very spot
let me capture
the perfect shot
so years from now
I can recall
this moment shared
before our fall.
A thousand words
to hang in air
as I remember
we were a pair.
Your glossy image
faded through the years
and blurred for sure
by all my tears.
I thought of you just this morn
and my heart ached again.
My soul is so very worn.
I thought of you again this eve
and a smile found my face.
Your spirit will never leave.
My heart beating fast
like the nimble hummingbird;
your love is so sweet.
Nature always finds a way
to carry on and stay strong;
even when she’s kicked down
she’s never down for long.
Human nature has a way
of destroying all that’s good
as power, hunger and greed
hold more power than they should.
For those who don’t know, I have been collaborating with a very talented musician and friend, Kristina Looney. The product of these collaborations is pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Just last week, we took a trip to the recording studio and recorded some of the songs we had finished. By we, I mean I stood outside the recording booth and made funny faces at her while she strummed and sang. We each have crucial roles in this partnership.
While I continue to write sad lyrics and she continues to demand happy tunes to be strummed on her ukulele, it seems that this partnership is the start of something good. So please, LISTEN! And be sure to keep an eye out for more great tunes in the new year.
You can check out our songs here, or on my “Music” page that will be updated as we continue to record! If you really like what you hear, our songs can be downloaded for just $1! Our first CD will be available soon!
This year I will not scratch,
this year I will not bite,
this year I will not meow
and keep my girl up all night.
This year I will be good
and lose that pesky pound
I will not beg for fish
and I will run all around.
This year…
who am I kitten?
I will still scratch
and I will still bite
but I promise only
when you deserve the fight.
And that pesky pound
can stay or go,
but the fish shall stay,
this I know.
