Harvest

With every breath that leaves our lungs,
we give our captors the advantage.
They give us just enough
to keep us on our feet.
The cycle carries on
as we breathe in and out
and they take what we give,
returning oxygen to our brains.
Our brains then rot,
as does our flesh.
Once again we give,

so they can grow.
