Every mile between us
is a tear shed
as my heart breaks
since the “goodbye” I said.
I watch in the mirror
as you fade away
and just keep dreaming
of a time I can stay.
You wait in the window
as I hurry home
into your loving heart
where I am never alone.

Parkour
They run and jump
and dive and leap
and climb and fly
from tree to tree.
Their bushy tails tall
and their little claws discreet
as they chase each other
with cheetah-like speed.
They flip and flop
and bend and reach
and wrangle up
the kids they teach.
They move about
before my eyes
as I sit and wait.
There is do doubt
I’d eat these guys
if ever my dinner’s late.

El mundo real
El mundo real está pintado en la sangre de la angustia,
mezclado con las lágrimas más tristes,
esperando la felicidad para agregar
un toque de color en nuestros corazones.

Lost in your eyes
on this sinking ship;
venom in my veins
elixir in my soul.

#tbt
The spark of life your eye
has all but faded to black,
jaded by this world
stabbing you in the back.
The falsehoods pour in
from the lying snakes,
dying to get their fill of greed
no matter what the stakes.
Your open heart is torn
and tattered by it all
battered by the siege
of the unexpected squall.

Late Night Stroll
Silent late night strolls
in the chill of the moonlight;
stars in your eyes shine.

Objection!
Objection! I plead guilty
of loving you too much
but the crime I have committed
is the cause of your touch.
You stole my heart first
so the trial should be for you
but all the charges are dropped
since true love can never sue.

Cape
One cream and two sugars
in a slightly darker roast,
was how you took your coffee
after that weekend on the coast.
We only met that once
but my thoughts will always stray
to the salty air we breathed
on that fateful sunny day.
Your last name I can’t recall
but every inch of you I see;
every time I close my eyes,
it’s of you I dream.
Your number is in my phone
but I know I’ll never call,
since that weekend was over
when the summer became the fall.

Turf Wars
Don’t be coming here
to hunt your prey
since this is my turf,
listen to what I say.
If you come ’round again
there will soon come a day
when the hunted becomes you,
’cause I’ll make you pay.
That bird that you maul
and the chipmunk you chase
are my friends not yours
so get out of my face.
Go back to your own house
and leave me to mine
or you’ll soon learn about
why I sharpen my claws so fine.

Wake
For so long I’ve pretended
that I am in love with you,
if only to appease the masses
when it’s not even true.
I think we both we’re trying
to make something last
without ever realizing
what we had was in the past.
Now with no certain path
and no more wreckage in our wake,
I’ll travel on alone for once,
my heart finally at stake.
