Happenstance brought me to you
and fate sent you away,
a fate sealed by my wrongs
making it impossible to stay.
I knew that my actions
would give me this result
and still I carried on
without an ounce of doubt.
Would I change my ways now?
I can honestly say, “no.”
But my heart will remember you,
anywhere I go.

Forgotten Promises
I could promise you the moon
but what good would it do
since all the stars in the sky
can’t shine as bright as you.
I could promise you tomorrow
but it’s better I not
since I don’t make promises
soon to be forgot.

Eventually the student
becomes the teacher
and all you can do it hope
that the power you passed along
will not end up being
the proverbial rope.

Choose Wisely
The fewer the words
the more profound the message,
so choose them wisely.

I don’t need the movie scenes,
all Hollywood,
plastic and fake.
I don’t need the romantic dreams,
turning to nightmares
all full of snakes.
I don’t need the love song
professing,
possessing,
the pulsing of hearts.
I don’t need a ring
shining,
sparkling,
threatening to tear us apart.
I just want you,
exactly as you are
filled with fault
and showing scars.

Favor
I want to ask you a favor,
which is strange thing to do
since cats don’t ask for much
they just make demands of you.
The thing is, this time,
I need a little hand
and while I’d ask you nicely,
I actually will demand.
If you could do what I want
and then be on your way
since you’ll be my next vicitm
if you choose to stay.

I like the grass,
but I don’t want to fertilize it.
Some other corpse
can do the job.
Me, I’d rather burn
than take up any more space
on this overpopulated sphere.
But for now,
I’m here,
so I best help the grass from above
while this future corpse
still contains some love.

Next to You
My heart has never
felt so good as when I am
sleeping next to you.

Initiative
Sometimes,
I don’t know what to do with myself.
So,
I take the initiative to
eat your hat,
pull my fur,
scratch the rug,
burrow under
all your blankets,
pace the floor,
meow outside the door,
beg for food,
stare you down,
and finally,
nap.

ΗΑΤΕ
Hate is such
a strong word,
emotion,
act.
It drains
and pains
and detracts.
But sometimes
it just feels
good.
