The sound of silence,
interrupted by snow
falling so gently
on the ground below.
Only the moon
lights the way
as footsteps crunch
leaving a path of gray.

Fog
Clouds float off the ground,
with the hope of rising again
only to settle down
and trap us in a pen.
The thickness that surrounds
leaves droplets on our skin
and visibility is scarce
letting mother nature win.
The sun will rise tomorrow
and soon the fog will lift
and the clouds they will remember
what it feels like just to drift.

Snowfall
Light snow falls in dark
landing quietly on ground,
a blanket of white.

She
“Let it be so,”
her voice boomed
this command.
And with one fell swoop,
she destroyed all the land.
“For too long
they have taken
and not returned
the fruit of the earth
and then leave it burned.
From this point on,
let it be known,
that She is not
something you own.”
The windows shattered
and the ground shook
as the rain pattered
hitting every nook.
The ground split
and the seas rose
and life ceased
as the book closed.
“And it is so,”
a mere whisper in the dark
just waiting,
waiting,
waiting
for a
spark.

Cleansed Earth
Clouds rumble above:
drip, splish, splash, drip, drop, plop, crash.
Blue skies on cleansed earth.

A Picture
A picture painted before my eyes:
pinks and purples
and trees rising to the skies;
the sun sinks low
as another day dies
and the moon awaits
her chance to light our lives
and, if only for a moment,
bring clarity to our lies.

Leaf on the Wind
She moves like a leaf on the wind.
So erratic and magnificent,
her colors fill the air
painting pictures
to fill our lungs
as she heads for the unknown
only to end up
a crunch underfoot.

Summer Freeze
Boiling heat flows over
as the sun beats on your back
and each breath you breathe
feels like a heated attack.
You’ve never felt such heat
and the fire burns your soul
as the pavement burns anew
almost melting to your sole.
Summer days like these
exist only in your head,
this is normal for the arctic
and global warming is dead.

Play that Song
The sounds of nature
create a beautiful song.
Keep the music on.

Beach
Swaying in the breeze,
the ocean beneath the trees,
sun is out to please.
